Frequently Asked Questions
General

The best temperature to store your seeds is between 5-8 degrees Celsius.    So the fridge is definitely your safest option.   It’s best to avoid temperature variance, so somewhere deep in the fridge in the sealed ziplock bags they come in.

That’s it!   For long term storage, you may want to consider adding a silica pack inside a small glass jar with the seeds still in the ziplock inside the small glass airtight jar.

Cannabis seeds do not contain any illegal properties on their own therefore can be considered an adult novelty item useful for making oil and body care products, natural remedies, seed preservation, souvenirs etc.   Although the laws are changing rapidly, germination of seeds for the cultivation of cannabis may be illegal in your state.  Learn more about current Australian legalization laws.

Yes.  As you’re dealing with a legitamate Australian company this reduces your risk of international scams, shipping issues, exhorbenant costs, customs confiscation etc.   We take care of that headache for you and are here to assist you with dedicated Australian based support.

We despatch seeds using postage envelopes with tracking so that you can follow the tracking with the number provided.   The sender details will be generic.  In most cases, your seeds will be despatched next business day and you’ll be emailed the tracking number as soon as it’s available.   Once your tracking number is received, we recommend you to monitor it to ensure the package is received based on the tracking status.

As long as you follow the paper towel method outlined exactly in our germination policy, and have documented the process with date/time stamped photos, we will provide a fair resolution in the form of store credit or replacement added to future order.

For data protection and privacy purposes, we do not hold any customer data on file.  All customer data is encrypted at rest and then regularly deleted to ensure no ability for any entity to obtain your personal data or order history.   There is no account needed to order, simply add to cart and follow the prompts.  🙂

We take customer data protection very seriously.  Given the nature of your purchase, paying with credit card is not possible due to merchant restrictions.   Paying via bank transfer or crypto can provide a layer of protection and are by far the best options.   Please trust us, it’s the best method…

Our breeders are a trade secret but be assured that all strains are  stabilized under strictly controlled expert growing conditions with only the most potent terpene profiles and phenotypes preserved over many years and often decades.  All seed stocks are hand selected and tested to ensure maturity and viability with all stocks rotated quickly ensuring no older seed stocks are supplied… ever.

We utilize various packaging methods to ensure all orders make it through the post successfully with all seeds in tact (not crushed) ensuring any company naming info is generic and unrelated to cannabis naming conventions in any way.   If seeds arrived damaged in any way, simply advise us via email and send a photo and we’ll replace the damaged souvenirs.

All purchases are payable by EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer, otherwise known as ‘Pay anyone’ or ‘bank transfer’).  This method is fast, secure and easy ensuring no third party merchant fees are involved.  Simply add your order to cart and follow the instructions to make payment.

We also accept various forms of cryptocurrency including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and Dogecoin.    You can select the cryptocurrency option at checkout.  As settlement can sometimes occur faster than banks (eg. over the weekend), crypto payments are often processed faster than EFT payments.

Germination of Cannabis Seeds FAQ

Germination of Cannabis Seeds may be illegal in your state.  It’s completely your responsibility to understand and adhere to the local laws

For areas where it legal, pls see our germ policy for a detailed guide.   The basic process is as follows:

Moist paper towel folded loosely in clean ziplock bag in dark drawer 2-3 days or until the germ is approx 20-30mm long then carefully transplant to small pot with coco/perlite 80/20 or high quality seed raising mix with green tip/shell just slightly exposed at top keep moist from below the pot using any drip tray with a thin film of clean water or low EC water (below 0.5) below the pot at all times and let it wick the water up into pot.   Keep in low light warm position (not hot! Eg. not direct sunlight or hot windowsill)  for approx 1 week or until ready for next phase incl mild fertilization etc.

Seeds are organic living biological material.  Expecting every single seed to germinate in every situation isn’t realistic.

Assuming you follow the paper towel method (outlined above), a germination rate of around 80% is the industry norm.

No!   What is the benefit of putting the paper towel between 2 plates?   If you think the germs need extra oxygen in the germ stage… they don’t.   If you are using this method, just stop and switch to ziplock bags immediately.

For some strange reason, many Aussies (in particular) like to use the paper towel in between plates method.  Firstly, plates are not sterile.  Secondly, they’re introducing a range of moisture variance and pathogen issues that are just totally unnecessary and likely causing you to check the germs every 2 hours to spray chlorinated tap water on them!  Argh!

Moist paper towel (spring/filtered water) inside a clean ziplock bag in a dark drawer for 2-3 days.  It’s very simple.  Clean, correct moisture and no need to open the area in any way during the initial process.   Don’t over think it.   It’s not complicated….

We source from a very select group of top breeders that we have worked with over many years with successful results.  We would never on-sell stock from breeders we do not know.

We test every batch using the same paper towel method outlined in the below germination policy and we ensure proper storage of seeds below 20 degrees celcius at all times.

Due to demand, we generally never hold any stock for more than 3 months.

A steady range of around 22 degrees celcius is ideal.  Ideally, nothing over 25 degrees, and nothing below 20 degrees.

Some customers who think they know what they’re doing will put seeds on top of the fridge or on a windowsill  or on a heat mat etc.   Argh!  You’re cooking your seeds.   Keep it simple.   Dark warm cupboard.

No, seeds need total darkness in the initial stages.   Keep them in the dark for 2-3 days or until a nice tail has formed, which means it’s ready for transplanting.

Once transplanted, you want the green tip to be just slightly exposed at the top of the planter.  As soon as it senses the light, it will take off towards it.

This is a common practice, but it is completely unnecessary.   (in our humble opinion).   Soaking the seed simply adds extra touch points that add the potential for issues.

Instead, just follow the paper towel method as outlined above in the germination policy in detail.   It’s simple and highly effective.

For deep water culture systems, just follow the above we paper towel method, but then instead of the coco/perlite, substitute with a rockwool cube instead….

Jiffy pellets use coco coir which is a fantastic growing medium, however in our experience, using jiffy pellets for the germination process is not optimal.

Out of all the failures reported, jiffy pods would probably account for at least 30-40%!!!!   For some reason, they have a higher failure rate than other methods.   This is likely due to to too much / stagnant water usage in the early stages.   (ie. they get water logged)

The problem with jiffy pellets is you can’t see if the seed actually cracked or not.  Just use the paper towel method described above in detail, it’s simple and highly effective.

Why buy Cannabis Seeds from CG Australia?

CG has been the go to source for seeds in Australia since 2020.   Over that time, we’ve managed to rack up over 3500+ reviews and counting through word of mouth, repeat and referral.

Every single review is genuine, unedited and from verified owners.  We’ve try our very best to keep everyone happy over the years given the industry constrains and are constantly striving to improve our services especially as the market dynamics are starting to shift toward broad decriminalization and legalization

Firstly, how long as the seedbank been operating?  Look at the reviews are there a good quantity and do they look genuine?   Look through them in detail you should see variances in writing styles and just a general authentic look and feel

Are there any external review sites with customer reviews and is there more than 80% positive?  It’s normally much harder to obtain positive reviews from external sites as it’s the 1% of customers who typically are posting and they’re always the loudest.

Are there any mentions of the seedbank in cannabis forums etc.  Again, forums can be a love/hate with all manner of biases so best to take it with a grain of salt in may cases but worth noting if you are unsure if a seedbank is legit or not.

Auto Flower vs Photo Period FAQ

Autoflower cannabis seeds produce plants that flower automatically based on age rather than light cycles.  Typically, the plant will start showing sex at approx 4 to 5 weeks into the vegetable cycle, and then will quickly transition from vegetative into flowering, enabling a faster growing cycle and early harvest.

Most autoflowers are ready to harvest in 8 to 12 weeks from seed.

Yes. They’re one of the simplest types of cannabis to grow due to their compact size, ease and resilience.

The latest Auto genetics are so incredible, producing yields that often surprise cannabis growers.    Per plant, yes of course, they yield less than photo period plants, however if you weigh up the speed of harvest and multiple crops, it’s highly debatable which option can actually yield more on a total yearly basis….

Yes, they’re well-suited for Australian conditions due to their rapid lifecycle and flexibility.   In many parts of Australia, you can grow Cannabis all year round and Auto’s allow you to compress the growing period so you can sneak a quick grow into a period that normally would not be possible for photo periods.

No. They grow well under a consistent light schedule however it’s definitely worth ensuring you have the right lighting spectrum for the flowering phase for best results.  They’ll flower regardless, but to get the most out of them, you’ll still want to ensure the right light spectrum.

Yes, but low-stress training is preferred to avoid stunting growth.

Nope.  Not anymore, modern strains can reach THC levels similar to photoperiod varieties.  It’s actually crazy when you see how fast they grow.  If you have never grown auto’s it’s worth trying so you can see the difference and then assess what works best for you in future.

Most stay between 60 and 100 cm, making them compact and discreet.

Sativa Dominant Strain - FAQ

A sativa dominant strain contains more sativa genetics than indica genetics. Most modern cannabis varieties are hybrids, but strains described as sativa dominant are bred to emphasize traits such as taller growth, narrower leaves, longer flowering times, and uplifting effects.

These strains are popular among collectors and growers who appreciate energetic, creative, and daytime-oriented genetics with tropical and citrus-forward terpene profiles.

Sativa strains are not necessarily stronger than indica strains. Potency depends on cannabinoid content, genetics, and cultivation conditions.

Many modern sativa dominant strains can exceed 25% THC in the same way that Indica varieties do.   The main difference is the effects of Sativa dominant strains tend to be more cerebral and stimulating than Indica’s which tend to be more relaxing.

Typically, yes.   The more higher the Sativa genetics in your strain, typically the taller and more lanky your plants will be in comparison to short and compact with Indicas.

Indoor plants may double or triple in height after the light cycle is changed, while outdoor plants can become very large in warm climates. Training techniques such as topping and low stress training are highly recommended.

Yes, many sativa dominant hybrids are suitable for beginners, especially stable strains such as Blue Dream, Bruce Banner, Amnesia Haze and Sour Diesel

The main challenge is managing height and stretch, particularly indoors. Growers who are prepared to use simple training techniques can achieve excellent results.

Yes. CG Australia provides a transparent Germination Policy.

All seed batches are tested for viability using the paper towel method. Customers who carefully follow the recommended process and document their results can request assistance if genuine germination issues occur.

Indica Dominant Strain - FAQ

Indica dominant plants are typically shorter, bushier, and faster to flower than Sativa dominant varities. They are known for dense buds and more relaxing high. Many growers choose them because they are easier to manage and well suited to small indoor spaces or discreet outdoor setups.

Indica strains tend to be more compact and flower faster while sativa strains grow taller and often take longer to mature.  Indicas are often preferred by beginners because they may be easier to control.  Sativas can produce larger plants and may require more space and longer seasons to reach full potential.

Absolutely.   While they are usually shorter than sativa plants, many indica strains produce dense, heavy buds and excellent overall harvests often with higher overall weight higher than Sativa harvests.   Under optimal conditions, compact plants can deliver impressive results.   Just see some of the reviews for our Bubblegum Strain

Store seeds in a cool, dark, and dry environment. An airtight container placed in a cupboard or refrigerator is ideal. Stable storage conditions help preserve viability and protect the genetic integrity of the seed.
