Indica Cannabis Seeds Australia

The Cannabis strain for night time chillax (maybe hide the Doritos)…

If you’re after a snappy day time kick, you may want to checkout a Sativa Dominant Strain  :-)

Indica dominant strains are characterized in the medicated/relaxation bucket aligning to an evening movie, bowl of popcorn, then a bowl of cereal and maybe a bar of chocolate and peanut butter followed by some jello with a dollup of cream…. (you get the picture)

At a high dose, a good Indica dominant variety will simply sit you on your ass.  Productivity is unlikely to be your friend.   At a low dose, it may help you connect to yourself and others in a profound way.

At CG, we stock a carefully selected range of indica dominant cannabis seeds with proven top grade genetics only from a very select group of elite breeders.   These strains are prized for their compact growth, dense buds, rich terpene profiles, and deeply relaxing effects.

Whether you are a collector researching classic strains such as Northern Lights and White Widow or you are comparing modern heavy hitters like Runtz Gluntz and Gorilla Glue, indica dominant strains remain some of the most popular genetics in Australia.

What Are Indica Dominant Cannabis Seeds?

Indica dominant cannabis seeds produce plants that inherit a larger proportion of indica genetics than sativa genetics.  (Um Duh..)

In practical terms, this usually means:

  • Shorter and bushier plants
  • Broad, dark green leaves
  • Dense, resinous flowers
  • Faster flowering times
  • Heavy, relaxing effects
  • Excellent suitability for smaller spaces

Typical indica dominant strains contain anywhere from 60% to 100% indica genetics, although many modern hybrids include a small amount of sativa influence for added flavour and potency.

Indica vs Sativa: What’s the Difference?

Neither is objectively “better”; it depends on your goals.

Indica Dominant Growing Characteristics

These days most Cannabis strains are hybrids.   That means they’re partly Indica and partly Sativa in varying degrees.

While it’s all a bit of a wank (ie. it’s still the Marijuana flower) there are some key characteristics that make Indica strains recognizable during and after the grow.

Cannabis indica plants tend to have shorter, bushier, darker green leaves, compared to the sativa variety.  This can be great for those short on space or wanting to grow indoors.  They also typically grow a bit faster with a slightly shorter flowering cycle.   Most Indica’s prefer cooler climates, with a shorter season.

For example, Northern Lights (one of the most tried and tested strains worldwide) has a very short 8 week flowering time.  If you go with the Auto NL version, it’s even faster…..

Typically, Indica’s grow wider than Sativa’s and produce bigger yield by weight given the same meter p/sq ratios as their buds tend to be more dense.

Indica flowers centre around the nodes of the plant (where the leaves sprout from the stem).   If you are using your plant to make hashish then go with an indica, as it will contain more resin.

Indica strains originated from Afghanistan, Turkey, Nepal, Northern Pakistan and the Hindu Kush mountains. Indicas are often preferred by growers, due to their high yields and shorter seasons, meaning you may be able to get more cycles per growing season.

They can be grown both indoors and outdoors but note that Indica plants can be susceptible to mold due to their compact structure.   With good airflow circulation and ventilation this issue is easily solved.  Outdoors, if growing in very humid regions (like Northern QLD), you’ll want to find strains that have a good percentage of Sativa such as Gorilla Glue which is an absoluate fire strain and has a 50/50 ratio of Indica/Sativa.
